About Bahá'í Temples

Bahá'í Houses of Worship — known as Mashriqu'l-Adhkár, 'the Dawning Place of the Praise of God' — are open to people of every religion and background for prayer, meditation, and reading from sacred scriptures. Each is built with nine sides and a central dome, symbolizing the unity of religions taught by Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith. Currently there are continental Houses of Worship in India (the Lotus Temple in New Delhi), Australia, Germany, Panama, Samoa, Uganda, the United States, and Chile, with new local Houses being built worldwide. The Bahá'í World Centre in Haifa, Israel — including the Shrine of the Báb on Mount Carmel — is the global spiritual heart of the faith.
